August Bridge Semester

Summer Slam jumpstarts your college experience. The August Bridge Semester is when you start revving the engine.

For three intense, rewarding weeks in August, you and your fellow freshmen will be in class five days a week. You’ll take:

An introductory course in your chosen major, and
A fun liberal arts class that will expose you to new experiences, cultures, and perspectives.

At the end of those three weeks, you’ll have earned six credits before your first year even begins.

At most colleges, you can expect to earn 30 credits by the end of your freshman year. But thanks to the August Bridge Semester, and Monroe’s three-semester academic calendar, you can earn 51 credits in your first year — which means it’s possible to graduate sooner.
